The colorless odorless low aromatic white spirit, Solvent or Stoddard also called mineral turpentine is widely used as an active solvent in chemical mixing industry of paints, lacquers and varnishes also use as cleaning solvent. Process brief for manufacturing of odorless low aromatic white spirit from Kerosene oil –
This is a Batch distillation system, it consists of Distillation Column, Kettle, Main Condenser, Vent Condenser & Receivers. The feed (Kerosene) is heated in Kettle using thermic fluid around 210 oC. The Vapours start to generate around 130 oC & start to move towards the top of the Column. Initially, the liquid fraction in kerosene having low boiling point (130-144 oC) start vaporizing. The condensation of the vapors takes place in Condenser & collected in first product Receiver. The liquid fraction in kerosene having a boiling point (145-174 oC) start vaporizing.
The condensation of the vapors takes place in Condenser & collected in second product Receiver. The liquid fraction in kerosene having a boiling point (175-200 oC) start vaporizing. The condensation of the vapors takes place in Condenser & collected in second product Receiver. We can get the white spirit of 3 different grade in 3 product receiver, For more purification, we can add more stages to get ultra-high quality of low aromatic white sprite solvent or turpentine for special purpose use.
